01
Separate city days from days outside the city
Put your city stops on one list and your planned excursions on another. The Tourism Authority of Thailand highlights both city experiences and mountain destinations in Chiang Mai province. Those are different days: ask an excursion operator about its meeting point before deciding how convenient a hotel will be.
02
Choose a neighbourhood for your daily rhythm
Use the Old City, Nimman and Riverside as starting points, then narrow to individual streets. Think about what you want to do after breakfast and after dinner. A hotel that suits long afternoons on-site may need a different transport plan from a base you leave early each morning.
03
Check the room as well as the address
Look for current information about room orientation, access, occupancy and facilities you expect to use. If stairs, noise or connecting rooms affect your stay, confirm them with the property before committing to a restrictive rate. Do not assume a photograph shows the exact room category you are reserving.
04
Keep the booking details together
Compare the total payable price and cancellation terms for the same dates and number of guests. Save the confirmation and the provider’s support details. Reconfirm transport and excursion arrangements separately; a hotel booking does not automatically include airport travel or day trips.
Your shortlist, checked
- The exact address works for your daily plans.
- The room category fits every guest, including children.
- The total price and inclusions are clear.
- You have read the cancellation deadline and payment terms.
- You know which provider handles booking support.
